Tee shirts with dressy bottoms? Yay or nay?
I’m spilling the tea (or should I say Cola) on styling your favorite tees!
There have been some major mixed reviews on this trend within the industry and as a HUGE supporter of it (I shared a sneak peak of this love in My Monthly Style Roundup), I want to share my favorite ways to create a look like this!
The current tee trend revolves around pairing two unexpected items for a dressy casual look; dressy bottoms like silky skirts, suit shorts, or dressy pants outfitted with a casual tee shirt . Though pairing the unexpected is key to rocking this trend, it is important to find the right top to casually compliment the dressier bottom. Though I’m a BIG fan of sporting oversized men’s T-shirt’s, to score on this trend you must find a happy medium. Pairing a silky skirt or pant with a TOO oversized top will appear sloppy. Instead opt for small men’s tees or a fitted woman’s tee tucked or tied at the waist for a similar esthetic.
So, when is it appropriate to style and sport your favorite graphic or band tee? I would argue it depends what you pair together and the way you style the overall look. For a brunch date to Sunday’s in Brooklyn, I styled my new favorite Lucky Brand Coca-Cola tee with a pair of dressy, wide leg Zara bottoms and Shein platforms. This made for the PERFECT combo of dressy, cool, and casual! Though I wouldn’t suggest this particular style for the workplace, traditionally dressy brands like Anthropologie are pairing tees and skirts for the upcoming fall season leading me to believe the right pair can be worn ANYWHERE!
Though this is the first time I paired my new top from one of my FAVORITE boutiques in Central Pennsylvania (of course I stopped in The Little Black Dress during my visit) with these dressy black pants, I look forward to seeing how many different ways I can style the top. I’d love to see it paired with bold color or patterned satin midi skirt and strappy heels, a suit and chunky sneakers, and of course a classic pair of denim.
How will you style your favorite tee?
P.s. this post is NOT sponsored by Coca-Cola, I just really LOVE it!!
Brb. I’m re-experiencing NYC for the first time…
because I CAN (FINALLY) SEE!
I don’t know about you, but being a 20 something (getting closer to 30 something, WHAT?) with adult responsibilities, schedule, and budget can occasionally lead to the neglect of priorities…
Case in point- when is the last time you scheduled yourself an eye exam?
For me, it had been literal YEARS since my last eye exam and even longer since an update of my prescription. And because I made it a 2019 goal to be the healthiest version of me and treat my body with more respect, I decided it was time to do something about it!
But being busy and on a budget weren’t my only hang ups in getting myself new glasses. To be honest, my frame game was in need of a complete overhaul, too…I mean my glasses were cute-7 YEARS AGO!!! Timeless style, versatility, and uniqueness are important to me and after WEEKS of research I discovered the diamond in the rough, the one-stop-shop, my answer to finding fabulous frames to seamlessly integrate into my wardrobe.
Cohen’s Fashion Optical
Though 100+ locations are sprinkled throughout 7 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, Cohen’s Fashion Optical fittingly calls New York City home to its fashionable frames and eye exams. Every location is uniquely operated yet each is harmoniously led with style, affordability, and the BEST customer care.
For me, visiting Cohen’s Fashion Optical in Midtown Manhattan (132 W 57th Street) was truly an experience unlike I’ve ever had before. From a warm welcome (even though we had never met), to a personal conversation with my optometrist (making me feel like more than just another patient), to having a one-on-one frame styling experience with my very own ALL KNOWING glasses expert, Andrea, I felt as special as the Dior frames staring back at me! After an hour of picking my brain to uncover my true sense of style, Andrea sent me home with 2 pair of designer frames perfectly matching my personality. Not only that, but she thoughtfully answered EVERY question I asked! I left not only with two new pair of designer glasses, but feeling like a part of the Cohen’s family, too.
Highlights of my Cohen’s experience include…
1. My doctor (Dr. Neil Cooper) taking the time to recommend additional eye care specialists specific to MY New York neighborhood. Talk about going above and beyond!
2. Feeling SO welcome in the Cohen’s Fashion Optical space the entire time it took me to decide which frames suit me best. In a city that is ALWAYS rushed, there was no rush around my experience; the staff was there to support ME.
3. I left my appointment feeling like a part of the Cohen’s family, with new friends, and a whole new view of the city!
YOU can experience Cohen’s Fashion Optical TOO! Redeem the below promotion at ANY Cohen’s location!
And for an EXCLUSIVE offer, stop by the 132 West 57th location for $100 off eye glasses or $100 off sun glasses / $250 off both PLUS an additional $20 Off OR Plus a Complimentary Eye Exam* when mentioning this post

Why is it we women spend the majority of winter and all of spring waiting, wishing, praying for sunny days and sun dresses, yet somehow despise summer too?
I’ve been thinking…
…perhaps it’s not really summer we hate, but the summer clothes?Continue reading “One daily step to loving YOU”
