GIRL – here at Ditch the Clique, we’re all about uncovering your dream and supporting you in GOING! FOR! IT!
But what happens when you’ve found your dream (AND accomplished it too) BUT you’re not as happy as you thought you’d be?
Well first of all, let me remind you that 1. your feelings are valid and 2. you’re not alone! Living in your dream is of course uncomfortable – it’s a new way of life. And as with any change in your career, relationship, or ANY area, an adjustment period is not only weird but necessary. Just remember that this does not discount your success in achieving your dream or necessarily mean you’re on the wrong path. But it does act as the perfect opportunity to reflect.
My best advice – dig deep and ask yourself WHY?
Why am I uncomfortable? Because it’s new and different or because it’s not what I expected?
Neither answer is right or wrong or superior to the other. But BOTH provide clarity.
If you’re feeling uncomfortable in the newness, take time to focus on how far you’ve come. Remember that there is a past version of you who worked hard to achieve this moment. Don’t let this monumental moment be overshadowed by the uncomfortability of change.
But maybe you’re feeling uncomfortable because it’s not what you expected…
And GIRL, that’s okay too! Not everything turns out to be what you thought it would be. And THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU’VE FAILED. It simply means your dream has changed, and that is absolutely normal. If this is where you find yourself, do take time to decipher between the parts that do align with you and the parts you love less. Reflect on those good things and figure out how you can do more of that! And while you take on the new challenge of mapping out what’s next, remember that what’s meant for you will always find you and GIRL…this is simply a pitstop along the way.
