Don’t get me wrong, I’m doing my best to live in the NOW and appreciate the little things, BUT that doesn’t mean I’m not still dreaming about life after quarantine.
In fact, I’ve recently caught myself day dreaming about the food I’ll eat, friends I’ll hug, and places I’ll travel post quarantine and THAT’S OKAY! I mean, we all need something to look forward to, right? Personally, I think as long as we allow dreaming about life after quarantine to motivate us rather than discourage us, it’s absolutely healthy and OKAY!
And like the true fashionista I am, I can’t help but dream about what I’m going to wear after quarantine, too! Creating outfits that express my personality and mood is an artistic and inspirational outlet for me, so it seems like a fair addition to my list of post quarantine dreams!
But the question is…what am I wearing after quarantine?

Right now, life feels out of our control…
Our day to day lives have been turned upside down! Schedules are non existent (what is time, anyway?), and in-person connection is no longer…LITERALLY. It truly feels as though there is nothing to work for or look forward to.
But recently, I was met with the quote “Don’t be a slave to your thoughts; control them” and honestly I was OVERWHELMED by its truth. It reminded me that in times of uncertainty and sadness we have the choice to reclaim control when we focus our thoughts on the positive rather than negative. Now don’t get me wrong, not-so-great moments in quarantine are allowed and NECESSARY! But only when used as a means to process and move BEYOND!
But HOW do we focus our thoughts on the positive rather than negative in order to reclaim control?
Well, I’m no expert BUT keep reading for a few ways I’ve worked to regain control of my thoughts and my LIFE in quarantine.

It’s no secret we’re all feeling a bit unmotivated lately. I don’t know about you but I typically find inspiration in my circle of empowered women and my surroundings (bless you, New York City). But because my surroundings haven’t changed in WEEKS…well…let’s just say I’ve been forced to find inspiration elsewhere.
And you know, I’ve decided that’s not necessarily a bad thing…

I know you’re likely in need of creative ways to find inspiration too, so I’m excited to share one of my MANY methods with you! (I used and loved this method PRE quarantine, but have found it to be an absolute game changer since quarantine started, too!)
So let’s get into it!

In my most recent email newsletter I shared how I’m spending my quarantine time. Yes I’ve rearranged my office, caught up on my favorite reality TV shows, and dressed up for NO REASON, but this extra time at home REALLY has me doing A LOT of thinking. Particularly I’ve been thinking about what motivates us as women. Sure, I’ve thought about this before, but now more than EVER I truly recognize the importance of connection. GIRL I don’t know about YOU, but I know I am much more inspired and empowered to be the best me (AND go after my dreams) when I’m surrounded by other empowered, inspired, and motivated women!

I’ll never forget…
In 8th grade my math teacher asked us to write down our goal for the year. My classmates wrote things like “to get good grades”, “make new friends” and “to excel in sports” but I vividly remember writing “to make a positive difference in the life of one person” …and some goals never change.
