It’s funny the things we realize as we get older….

Things like money doesn’t grow on trees, who you surround yourself with REALLY does matter, actions have consequences, and people really are doing the best with what they have.

Over the past week I prepared to vacation with my mom for the first time since middle school (yes you read that right), and in preparing I REALLY got to thinking about that last one…

People or (in this case) PARENTS are doing the best with what they have.

Launch & Adjust

If you’ve followed along here for sometime, have attended a Ditch the Clique event, or follow me on Instagram, you likely know my LOVE for podcasts. I mean, heck…I even have my own! (Oh you know…just a shameless plug for The REAL Women of 20(20) Podcast, no big deal.)

Recently while listening to one of my favorite podcasts, The Skinny Confidential Him & Her, I noticed the phrase “launch & adjust” was on repeat. But not only there, the phrase has seemingly haunted me in conversations and other media content I consume, since!

My dad (the most wise person I know) always says “if words are on repeat, LISTEN! There’s a message there…”  So of course, I’ve put his advice to practice.  And (as usual) he’s right…

Tips to Getting Inspired When You’re in a Creative Rut

I don’t know about YOU, but for me, there is nothing more damaging to my work and mindset than finding myself in a creative rut.

And regardless of the work YOU do, a creative rut is likely taxing to you and your work too!

But how do you get out of a creative rut?

Throughout quarantine, I’ve found myself in a creative rut (or two) and have successfully found my way out! But not without FIRST uncovering what is stealing my creative energy. And then seeking NEW sources of inspiration.

Let’s NOT return to “Normal”

I can hardly believe it! New York City has officially entered phase 3 of reopening! Social distancing rules are a bit less strict and salons, shops, and even outdoor dining are welcoming guests again! Slowly but surely, life is seemingly returning to “normal”…

But “normal” is not okay…

Don’t get me wrong, I am THRILLED for the businesses in my community to reopen, and to once again experience the simple joy of hugging my friends and family.  But there is so much more to the “normal” life we were living PRE quarantine that we simply can not return to.
