Turn Trash into TREASURE

New Year, new everything…or so it seems.

Over the past year, team DTC has had the incredible opportunity to work closely with our friends at Rue Saint Paul (you know, Brooklyn’s E X C L U S I V E sustainable closet!) And in doing so, we have learned SO MUCH about sustainability and circularity.

& GIRL…THAT has me thinking a lot about TRASH lately.

K, let me clarify…not “THAT” trash but the trashy circumstances we ALL face and, therefore, the trash we all collect over time.

For me that trash looked like my family falling apart, losing our home, financial struggles, feeling struck and unworthy of love…I could go on but you get it (insert nervous laugh here!) The point is, trash is heavy, gross, and feels worthless. And all we want is to find a place to throw it away. But GIRL if I’ve learned anything from Rue Saint Paul (& trust me, I’ve learned a lot) it’s that trash doesn’t have to be thrown away. In fact, I/YOU/WE have the power to recycle our trash and turn it into *T R E A S U R E*

Sounds cheesy but hear me out…

I could have allowed my trashy familial circumstances to destroy my life and convince me to believe the lie that THIS is all the further I’d go. But instead, I turned that trash into treasure. I turned my circumstances around and leveraged them for scholarships to help me finish college, invest in my relationships, and most recently share the power of reconciliation with THE WORLD on The Drew Barrymore Show.

GIRL the point is, making the choice to recycle my trash directly resulted in THIS blog and THIS business! If I had simply “gone out with the trash” I wouldn’t be HERE telling you that your trashy circumstance has the power to become a treasure if you simply make the choice and put in the work to recycle it.

YOU are not trash, YOU ARE T R E A S U R E!
