By now you probably know my feelings about the holidays (and if you don’t, check out my Christmas blog or IGTV video here).
But just in case you’re all together new here, let me catch you up…
Let’s just say I’m not one to begin celebrating in October or to wear head-to-toe red and green to a holiday event. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not so much a Grinch as I am a woman celebrating the holidays in her own unique way. For me, that means creating new traditions and sharing memorable moments rather than falling into holiday induced anxiety, debt, and disappointment. Because to be honest, it allows me (and everyone around me) to actually enjoy the holiday!
It still is SO crazy to believe that after 8 years together and a 4 year long engagement, I FINALLY married my best friend. And as excited as I am to share details of our intimate celebration, I am more excited to FIRST share with you our journey to getting here.
EVERY outfit I wore and show Iattended this season!
At the close of every New York Fashion Week season I am continually overwhelmed with emotions! I am so grateful to be a part of such a creative and inspirational industry and am even more thankful for THIS community created by each of you!
I’m spilling the tea (or should I say Cola) on styling your favorite tees!
There have been some major mixed reviews on this trend within the industry and as a HUGE supporter of it (I shared a sneak peak of this love in My Monthly Style Roundup), I want to share my favorite ways to create a look like this!
The current tee trend revolves around pairing two unexpected items for a dressy casual look; dressy bottoms like silky skirts, suit shorts, or dressy pants outfitted with a casual tee shirt . Though pairing the unexpected is key to rocking this trend, it is important to find the right top to casually compliment the dressier bottom. Though I’m a BIG fan of sporting oversized men’s T-shirt’s, to score on this trend you must find a happy medium. Pairing a silky skirt or pant with a TOO oversized top will appear sloppy. Instead opt for small men’s tees or a fitted woman’s tee tucked or tied at the waist for a similar esthetic.
So, when is it appropriate to style and sport your favorite graphic or band tee? I would argue it depends what you pair together and the way you style the overall look. For a brunch date to Sunday’s in Brooklyn, I styled my new favorite Lucky Brand Coca-Cola tee with a pair of dressy, wide leg Zara bottoms and Shein platforms. This made for the PERFECT combo of dressy, cool, and casual! Though I wouldn’t suggest this particular style for the workplace, traditionally dressy brands like Anthropologie are pairing tees and skirts for the upcoming fall season leading me to believe the right pair can be worn ANYWHERE!
Though this is the first time I paired my new top from one of my FAVORITE boutiques in Central Pennsylvania (of course I stopped in The Little Black Dressduring my visit) with these dressy black pants, I look forward to seeing how many different ways I can style the top. I’d love to see it paired with bold color or patterned satin midi skirt and strappy heels, a suit and chunky sneakers, and of course a classic pair of denim.
