Every New Year it’s the same thing. We’re made to believe as soon as the clock strikes 12:01am, we’re instantly a new and improved version of ourselves! And while becoming the BEST version of you IS possible (especially when surrounded by an inspiring, empowering COMMUNITY), it takes hard work and an even better mindset!
GIRL it’s taken me YEARS to develop a routine that REALLY gets me going in the “right” direction daily. But because I believe in empowering YOU with resources to live YOUR dream, I’m excited to share my 3 quick tips to kickstarting your day!
1. Set intentions for your day
One of the most change-making questions I’ve ever been asked?
“How do YOU want to feel today?”
Seems simple (and cheesy) but think about it… How often do you take the time to say how you REALLY want to feel as you go through the motions of today?
I believe in the power of written and spoken words because, well…when it’s said out loud or written down it becomes activated! So whether you take time to write it down or say it out loud, try listing 3 ways you want to feel TODAY! This might look like: “Today I want to feel 1. Happy 2. Confident 3. Accomplished”
Try saying this exercise aloud in the shower, speak it out loud with your partner, share it in your morning pages, or write it your phone notes! Saying how you want to feel takes less than 60 seconds, and is THE BEST way to kickstart your day in a positive, proactive way!

2. Be proactive, not reactive
BE PROACTIVE. Not quite sure what I mean here? Let me explain…
Well…have you ever found yourself halfway through your workday only to realize you haven’t touched a single item on your To Do list? Instead your energy has been spent responding to emails, phone calls, and the needs of others. YES others are important, but if the needs of others run you day…I’d guess you’re living in a state of reaction as opposed to being proactive. A probable solution? Either the night before or early on in your day, make a plan! Let this plan serve as a proactive guide for your day so you are not simply caught up in responding to the needs of others, but instead proactively taking care of your needs first. REMEMBER! The KEY here is for that plan to be accomplishable! So don’t list EVERY. SINGLE. TO DO. (because you and I both know it won’t get done and will only hurt the positive mindset you’re working toward!) Instead, list the top three things you REALLY wish to accomplish TODAY! Three ACTUALLY sounds achievable right? AND it leaves you with time to serve others in between or after serving YOU!
3. You’re going to consume, so consume something worth your while
Can I be REALLY real? I HATE when it’s suggested that the key to kickstarting your day is to not consume content in the morning. Because LET’S BE HONEST…in our world, that’s almost impossible!
So since you’re likely to consume content at the start of your day, may I suggest planning for that to be POSTIVE content, something that serves YOU? For instance, why not stream an educational podcast as you get ready as opposed to aimlessly scrolling on social media? Or opt for an inspirational read rather than catching up on trolling social comments!
GIRL, it’s the little things that make ALL the difference in kickstarting our day on the right foot AND mindset!
So there you have it! My 3 quick tips to kickstarting your day all in one place! But remember, your plan mustn’t mirror mine in order to succeed. Do what works for YOU!
