Runway trends you can wear NOW — NYFW SS20

Ah New York Fashion Week— as quick as it came, it has come to an end, but not without inspiring trends!

Wait…what is Fashion Week all about? Don’t worry, I talk all about what it is like to attend NYFW here.

Because I love integrating new runway trends into my wardrobe, one of my FAVORITE things to do at a show is to take notes on standout styles. Typically these notes are hectic and jumbled, but not to worry— I decoded this seasons key colors, shapes, and styles to share with YOU. Though this season celebrates the collections launching for Spring/Summer 2020, keep reading for the biggest trends you can integrate into your wardrobe NOW!

1. Trends to work into your fall/winter wardrobe, easily transitional into your spring essentials too!

GREENS! From neon green, to shades of shamrock and olive, green truly RULED the NYFW SS20 runway. I spotted shades of green in EVERY. SINGLE. SHOW. I even wore a shade of green this season, too!

CHUNKY SHOES! Models belong in heels, right? WRONG! The SS20 runways validated my love for chunky boots, sneakers, and platforms with a multitude of collections featuring thick heels and soles. From platform Miu Miu sandals to oversized Dr. Martens, chunky shoes are the new heel of choice!

FEATHERS! So we love a good faux fur but feathers? I’ll admit, though originally hesitant, after this seasons runway shows I’m HERE FOR IT! Fabulously feathered skirts and feather embellishments soared the SS20 catwalk! I think integrating feathers into a look makes an excellent, eccentric option heading into holiday outfitting!

2. Trends we love that are here to stay!

SUITS, SETS, & MONO PAIRS! It is no secret I’m OBSESSED with menswear for women. Knowing suits in bold, monochromatic pairs are still trending for upcoming seasons make me beyond excited for fall, winter, and even spring styling! Bold colors, including pink and plaid suiting, ruled the runway in both long pants AND knee length shorts.

…speaking of plaid…

PLAID! There are few fall and winter trends that NEVER go out of style, but plaid is one of the lucky few. But what I love most from this season of NYFW is the SS20 plaid on the runway! In pastel tones like mint and yellow, plaid is definitely here to stay! For fall, shop berry, yellow, or rust color plaids. And to really step outside the box, join my NYFW look and try mixing your favorite plaid pieces!

LAVENDER! As I shared in How to Dress for NYFW, purple is a go-to color for me! But I will be honest— I was uncertain when I decided to wear my lavender dress to day two of fashion week. BUT no need to worry, it not only preformed SUPER well but is trending for seasons to come, too! Lavender and deeper purple shades were POWERFUL on the runway, in the form of dresses, suits, and metallics too!
