If you follow me on Instagram or if you’ve ever attended a Ditch the Clique event, you know my life’s work revolves around #empoweredwomenempowerwomen. And with over 400K tags on Instagram alone, I’m clearly not the first woman to recognize the importance of female empowerment.
But girl…can I be SUPER real with you?
Empowering our fellow females is more than just a hashtag. In fact, empowering the women around us goes beyond social media and bleeds into EVERY aspect of our lives. And it starts with YOU! Think about it, if you don’t believe in the power you as a woman has to impact those around her, who will believe in you?
I often look at female empowerment like dating. They say the right person falls in love with you after you fall in love with you first. And I believe empowerment is exactly the same way! But how do you learn to be empowered like you learn to love you? By investing in you AND in the woman around us of course!
I know what you’re thinking. This is a “which came first the chicken or the egg” situation. And I get what you’re saying. But it truly is both. It’s a cycle. It’s a partnership that keeps going around and around. You learn to be empowered when you surround yourself with empowered attitudes. And as you learn and become empowered, you then empower the women around YOU too!
So if empowering our fellow females is all just a circle of acceptance, respect, and appreciation, where do we start?
Well, I’d argue you start with YOU where you are, right now! Why not remind the women around you how powerful and capable they are? That includes the women not physically around you…empower your virtual community too! And be sure to put yourself in situations where you are the one being empowered too! Spend time with the women who not only inspire you to be your best but push you to be your best too! That way you can soon do the same for your community too!
