Finding a Bra for ALL Shapes & Sizes

True or false: At one point in time your go-to intimates retailer said “sorry we don’t carry your size here,” or even better “we only carry your size in neutral shades.”

Whether you’re a HH or an A cup size, you want a bra that not only supports your body but looks cute, right? Because let’s be honest, regardless of who is seeing you in your undies, YOU deserve to feel confident from the inside out, on every layer!

Being a curvy girl (a 32FF to be exact), I’ve spent literal YEARS in the wrong bra size AND to top if off, I spent those years hating the fact my size only came in what I consider to be “blah” designs and shades. As if I was not already made to feel self-conscious enough by various people who felt the authority to tell me I had too much cleavage (HELLO I can’t help that!), I didn’t feel like myself underneath it all.

Because of the AWESOME body positive movement millennials are fronting (YAY LADIES!), brands are becoming more and more aware of the need to be inclusive of all shapes, colors, and sizes. But sadly that does not always mean they support the body of the buyer. In fact, common intimates brands have explicitly stated they will NOT represent women beyond a certain size. I don’t know about you, but I know I am beautiful and I feel I should be represented regardless of my cup size!

So to be sure we ALL are our most confident selves underneath it all, I have made it my personal mission to share with you a few brands who love your body as much as you do, in EVERY shape and size!

The Rack Shack

To kick off #SelfLoveFebruary, I had the extraordinary opportunity to visit a local Brooklyn intimates retailer, The Rack Shack. As soon as I walked in the Bushwick boutique, I fell in love with the materials and patterns of their intimates collection! Born out of the misrepresentation of size (and inability to find larger cup sizes in modern designs and colors) The Rack Shack curates bras, underwear, and lingerie for women sizes 28A-42HH. When I say curate, I mean it! The Rack Shack carries intimates by 20+ designers, all with the like-minded mission of inclusivity for all! And OH don’t worry, no awkward fitting-room measurement moments here! With a wealth of experience and industry knowledge, The Rack Shack owner and expert, Laura, knew my size before I took off my top! But she didn’t stop there; Laura explained how my bra SHOULD fit, WHY she was selecting specific styles for my shape, and HOW to properly care for my intimates at home. Laura truly opened my eyes to the brands out there who DO support ALL sizes.

For my shape, Laura suggested the Gossard Superboost Deep V Bralette and Lace Undie. Having larger boobies I never thought I would love a ligthly lined bra so much! But with underwire that doesn’t cut into my ribs and a snap front corset-like hook and eye, this bra is perfect for under a little black dress or even a cotton tee!

Offering an array of designs, being inclusive of all women and the LGBTQ community , and providing unbeatable expertise, The Rack Shack is a New Yorker’s one-stop-shop for all intimates, regardless of size! Call ahead or pop-in for a personal fitting and styling expertise!

But if you’re not in the New York area, don’t worry! Check out a few of the brands I’ve included below (all carried at The Rack Shack). Just like The Rack Shack, these brands support bodies of all shapes and sizes!
